Exercise – Strengthening the muscles of your back and core, will stabilize your spine. Exercise, in general, will keep you healthier.

Maintain a healthy weight – That pot belly increases the curvature of the lumbar spine, placing you in jeopardy of a back injury.

Avoid prolonged sitting and inactivity – Move! The static seated position can increase your chances of back pain. Get up and walk around and/or sit on a stability ball.

Lose your high heels – Wear comfortable shoes. High heels change your center of gravity and put increased stress on the lumbar spine

Sleep – Not just sleep, but quality sleep on a good mattress (and don’t sleep on your stomach).

Stop Smoking – A recent study discovered that a history of smoking was associated with the development of low back pain.

Lift properly – Bend at the knees, use your legs more and avoid twisting movements

Visit your chiropractor – Proper spinal alignment and posture reduces the risk of injuries and keeps you healthier
